Awards
The Belgrade Book Fair presents several awards, including the ones for the Publisher of the Year, the Edition of the Year, and the Children's Book of the Year. A single award is granted in each category. These awards are given to publications and works remarkable for their quality and relevance of scientific and artistic achievement, created as a result of a major effort of publishers, editors, and writers.
The jury may decide to grant a Special Award to a publisher, book, or comic book of outstanding quality which does not fit into aforementioned categories.
All Serbian publishers participating in this year's Belgrade Book Fair are eligible for the awards, decided by the five-member jury appointed by the Belgrade Book Fair Board.
Since 2007, the annual Dositej Obradović Award is granted to a selected foreign publisher for their continued contribution to publishing and promotion of Serbian literature.
Previous Award winners are: Wieser Verlag from Klagenfurt, Austria (2007), Gaia Editions from Bordeaux, France (2008), Jelenkor from Pécs, Hungary (2009), and Zandonai from Rovereto, Italy (2010).
The awards come in the form of a diploma which has no material value. They are a public recognition of publishers' and authors' achievements.
